Hopkins, had been an ATO at Emory University. Hopkins felt that the new school would need an organization to instill leadership for the men to survive and prosper. Growth continued into the 1930s, but with the onset of World War II, Greek life became stagnant.

We are a very well organized, self regulating organization at Tech. Most greek systems don't self regulate recruitment and the result is a lot more alcohol abuse during that period. Most other schools don't have the academic caliber of Georgia Tech, so consequently we have smarter fraternity members. That helps a lot.Georgia Tech has 8 of the 9 organizations (4 fraternities and 4 sororities). NPHC focuses on a lifetime of scholarship, service, and sibling-hood while celebrating Black culture. These organizations prepare their members to be student leaders through advocacy and education of the campus community. We are the Omega Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity, and ever since our Chartering in 1904, we have strived to build better men at the Georgia Institute of Technology through lifelong friendships, leadership opportunities, and character development.
