As for if the Uchigatana is worth it, the Iaito only does about 2 less damage when both are upgraded to standard +15. The Uchigatana may require less points in Dexterity, but since that is where most of the damage bonus for katanas come from, it's kind of pointless unless you're going for a Lightning/ Fire weapon.
i have a 4+ rapier and found the blacksmith that sells the uchi. i used the uchigatana in ds1 and it was good but idk if its the same for ds2 or if its better than the rapier. Rapier is Broken, you can finish the game just using rapiers, use the stone ring that makes you able to break the enemies' poise more easily = easy game.

The Uchigatana, and most katanas in general, are for DEX builds, and are somewhat difficult to use, but very rewarding if you use them right. Also keep your fire longsword. It is useful against certain enemies (cathedral of the deep) that are vulnerable to fire.Here is some advice, assuming you know very little about the game (just in case): Don't get dex higher than 45. Endurance needs to be high for roll plenty of roll dodges. You want to be fast rolling with a dex build.
