How much hp can a stock 4l80e handle.

All the power stuff makes it really nice. Especially the cruise for me. Adding more power is very simple. However, if the Allison can only handle another 80-90 hp without damage. A 4L80E would probably self destruct in short order with another 90 hp and additional torque. I think it's the added torque that would kill it. Stock 2005 2500HD 6.0/4L80E 35k miles. Push more than that and it is on borrowed time. Plus with a used one who knows how abused it already is. A rebuild with good & extra clutches will result in 600-700 crank hp. Some more easy mods and you can build them to hold well over 1000hp.

You could just have that trans freshened up to handle new motor.I want that the TH350 shifts at 4000RPM, but because boost pressure is set on the vacuum modulator, the TH350 will shift at 5000-5500RPM. I now adjusted the kick down cable and placed a adjustable modulator and it shifts now at 4500RPM at 5.7 psi. When I set the turbo at 7 psi, shift point goes back higher.
