Psychic is honestly one of the first caster classes I would recommend to a new player besides the bard. They are better at cantrip spamming (aka the thing most casters do at lv1) than any other class, the playstyle is pretty intuitive and unlike a wizard or a witch you can be effective even if you got the "wrong" spells or wasted all your slots.
