I can't confirm if the mutations work with power droplet, but I can 100% confirm it will unlock the mutations. I have a Zipline to fallen oak branch to kill mites every 2 or 3 days and I unlocked lil fist, wittle wizard, smasher, and blade master all on the same kill. My wizard mutation is tier 2 now without making a single staff.
