I would take the front cover off. There aren't any dowels in that cover. I didn't have to use a speedy sleeve to stop the leak from grooves cut by the old seal on the crank. Been using it now for 3yrs, and this year was my first year to use the WD for pushing snow, we're talking about single digit temps and no problems with my hydraulics at all.It makes a great 16 pound sledge hammer. I believe if you plan on running hydraulics of some sort, then the lighter viscosity is recommended. I use 30W in mine that have the hydraulic pump.
