I've shot with lots of different trigger shoes, some with wider safety levers, some with the standard dingus, some with a cut down dingus (Johnny Glock OEM modded shoe) some levers wider, some narrower. I do not insert my finger deep into the trigger guard and pull with the first knuckle. You only need that sort of leverage for heavy trigger pulls.
