Uchigatana +5 sharp does base damage of 143, Kilij +5 sharp does 135 base damage. Slightly more base damage might be the reason, also both scale to S in sharp and tearing. I've never been a Kilij fan, I usually go Uchigatana. But If you prefer it keep using it, skill is much more important then pure damage in souls.
