Primary oil is only there to lube the chain drive, cool the clutch and wash any wear particles to the bottom of the case to get them out of the way until the next change. Then remove the oil filter and cut it open. Inspect the oil and the insides of the filter for any foreign objects. Depending on what you see you may want to proceed with removing the primary cover first. Completely inspect everything. If nothing there then go to the cam chest and look at the tensioners.
