I have a Chevy engine with the casting number 3970010 from I can see they use this for a couple of engines the VIN is v0610chf I can decode most of it except for the hf at the end can anybody help me out. For this block, it would be the '69 only. If "original" heads '69 302 heads 3947041 but, also used on the '69 350. 3970010 was a common block used from '69 to '80 on the 350. Your best bet, quickest way to find out, research the block date code and engine id# on block, if not decked. I have two of these blocks 3970010 4bm myself.

This block is a 2 bolt main and has the 3970010 cast in the back of the block then up above that is K 9 cast into the block. I looked up the head casting numbers 3998920 and it said they are 72-73 350. The intake valves are big on these heads.
