I used winged scythe for my str/faith build until my save got corrupted. If you use stengh/faith then the perfect spells for you are beast incantations with the claw seal that scales with strength. Hybrid builds are definitely more difficult. You either do the hybrid part immediately and become glass or add it much later. Though putting a few points in for support/utility spells shouldn't hurt you too much.
